Privacy Policy — Parayoo

🌴 Short version: Parayoo doesn't collect, store, or share your personal data. Your voice recordings are processed in real time and immediately discarded. We never read what you type in other apps.

Who We Are

Parayoo is an Android app built by Abhineeth V S, an independent developer. The app converts spoken Malayalam to Manglish (romanised Malayalam) and types it into WhatsApp and other apps on your behalf.

Permissions We Request

Parayoo requests the following device permissions. Here is exactly what each one is used for:

Microphone

Used to record your voice when you tap the bubble. Audio is sent to Sarvam AI's speech-to-text service for processing and is never stored on our servers or your device after conversion.

Accessibility Service

Used solely to detect when a text input field is focused (so the bubble knows when to appear) and to type the converted Manglish text into that field on your behalf. Parayoo does not read, record, or transmit any content from other apps or your screen.

Display Over Other Apps

Required to show the floating bubble on top of WhatsApp and other apps. Without this, the bubble cannot appear while you are using other apps.

Foreground Service / Notifications

Required to keep the floating bubble alive while you use other apps. Android requires apps to show a notification when running a foreground service.

What Data We Collect

We collect the minimum possible data to make the app work and improve it:

Anonymous device ID — a randomly generated identifier stored only on your device, used to track your daily recording count (30 per day). This ID is not linked to your name, email, or any personal information.
Anonymous usage events — we use PostHog analytics to collect anonymous events such as "recording started" or "error occurred." These events contain no personal data, no audio content, and no text from your recordings or other apps.

We do not collect your name, email, phone number, location, contacts, or any content from your messages or other apps.

How Your Voice Data Is Handled

When you tap the bubble and speak:

Your audio is recorded locally on your device
It is sent over an encrypted connection to Sarvam AI's speech-to-text API for conversion
The converted text is returned to your device
The audio is immediately discarded — it is never stored on any server

The resulting Manglish text is typed into whichever app you are using. We do not store, read, or log this text.

Third-Party Services

Parayoo uses the following third-party services:

Sarvam AI — for Malayalam speech-to-text and transliteration. Your audio is processed by their API. See Sarvam AI's privacy policy at sarvam.ai.
PostHog — for anonymous usage analytics. No personal data is sent. See PostHog's privacy policy at posthog.com.
Supabase — for backend infrastructure. Used to enforce daily usage limits by anonymous device ID only.

Children's Privacy

Parayoo is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

GDPR & CCPA Rights

If you are located in the European Union or California, you have certain rights regarding your data. Since we collect only anonymous data tied to a randomly generated device ID, there is no personal data to access, correct, or delete. However if you have any concerns, please contact us and we will do our best to assist.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
